Hello, hello, St. Louis, MO!
On August 27th at 7:00 PM, I’ll be reading and signing copies of my debut fiction collection HORSE SHOW at The Novel Neighbor with fellow St. Louis writer Janelle Bassett, who will read and sign copies of her debut fiction collection THANKS FOR THIS RIOT!
I’m assuming if you’re here you already know about me and HORSE SHOW, so please allow me to introduce you to Janelle:
“Janelle Bassett’s story collection THANKS FOR THIS RIOT won the Prairie Schooner Raz-Shumaker Book Prize in Fiction and was published by University of Nebraska Press in 2024. The collection was also longlisted for the 2025 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Short Story Collection. Her writing appears in The Rumpus, Indiana Review, Smokelong Quarterly, American Literary Review, Cutbank, Washington Square Review, Wigleaf, and Best Microfiction. She lives in St. Louis and works in a public library.”
And here’s a little praise for THANKS FOR THIS RIOT, which is all killer, no filler:
“Janelle Bassett’s voice is one I can’t get enough of. The stories in Thanks for This Riot are fresh and unique and wickedly off-kilter but also burn with a wry, age-old, ironic wisdom. This collection is bitingly funny but sincerely so, with little lies and harmless untruths taking on an edge and inflicting irresistible damage.”—Timothy Schaffert, author of The Perfume Thief and The Titanic Survivors Book Club
Books will be available for sale and signing, or bring your own copy!
